Welcome to the CHMRC Employee Spotlight Series! Each month, we feature a new team member, sharing their journey and the impact they’ve made. Join us in celebrating the heroes among us and get inspired by their stories. This month, we are featuring a Q&A with Kam, our Community Resilience Supervisor. Kamryn steers partnerships, collaborations and events at our busy Solano Community Health Hub.

Q: Can you tell us a little about your background and how you came to work at CHMRC?

I have worked in healthcare for over four years now, and nothing ever felt right until I was recruited by CHMRC to join their team. The work they are doing at CHMRC is truly making a difference, and I knew I had to be a part of it.

Q: Tell us about what you do!

Currently, I serve as the Community Resilience Supervisor. I manage the Community Resiliency Coordinators (CRC’s), helping them stay focused and ensuring their events and partnerships run smoothly. I also report on the events’ progress at the hub and the impact we are making in the community. It’s a dynamic role that allows me to be at the heart of our mission, fostering resilience and support within our communities.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working at CHMRC?

What I enjoy most is the incredible sense of community we have built within our organization and the work we do to extend that sense of community to others. Seeing the smiles on people’s faces and hearing their stories of how we’ve made a difference in their lives is profoundly fulfilling. It’s amazing to hear feedback on the positive impact we are making on so many lives.

Q: Can you share a memorable moment or success story from your time here?

A success story from my time here is my own growth within the company and my ability to thrive in various roles. Hearing positive feedback from those I’ve worked with about the impact we’re making is incredibly rewarding. One memorable moment was when a family expressed their gratitude for our support during a challenging time. Their appreciation and smiles made all our efforts worthwhile.

Q: What do you find most challenging about your job?

The most challenging part of my job is not being able to do more for the community we serve. There is always a desire to extend our reach and provide even greater support.

Q: How do you stay motivated and inspired in your role?

I stay motivated because whenever I tell someone what I do for work, they think it’s amazing that we are helping people. That positive reaction keeps me going. Additionally, seeing the tangible results of our efforts and the joy we bring to others fuels my passion.

Q: What skills or qualities do you think are most important for your position?

The most important skills and qualities for my position include the ability to quickly come up with solutions, being detail-oriented, multitasking, recognizing employees when needed, and developing mutual trust with the team I manage. It’s about being adaptable, empathetic, and proactive.

Q: How do you see the future of CHMRC and your role in it?

In the future, I would like to move into a leadership position and help others achieve their goals, sharing the knowledge I will have gained along the way. I see CHMRC continuing to expand its impact, and I am excited to be a part of that growth, driving innovative initiatives that further our mission.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering a career in your field?

My advice would be to always stay educated, understand your interests and strengths, and be willing to accept criticism. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and never lose sight of the positive impact you can make.

Thank you, Kam, for your dedication and for sharing your journey with us! Your passion and commitment to community resilience inspire us all.
